Speedmaster Torino BA Rattrapante number 02 of 26…

One of the nice things about having a certain "high visability" in the Omega Watch community is that from time to time I get emails like this. [Note: I've sought permission from the sender of this email to share the information as long as I anonymize his name. So I'll call him "D from Central Europe"...

Omega Speedmaster Broad Arrow Rattrapante no 02/26

Hi Chuck

Today I was able to pick up a Speedmaster Broad Arrow Rattrapante from the current Torino 2006 Collection in Zurich/Switzerland. It is number 2 of only 26 pieces. I was told by Omega that no 01 goes to the museum and about half of the total number goes directly to the IOC in Torino. According Omega all pieces except no 01 and 02 went to Italy. I saw one in the Omega Boutique in Milano (Via Montenapoleone) two weeks ago. The official dealer price here in Switzerland is 17'200 Swiss Francs.

I have two pictures of my watch attached. Comparing the watch with the pictures in the press kit one sees, that the minute hand is longer (same size as the Speedmaster Broad Arrow Rattrapante). For me it is about 2 mm too long and does not really suit the dial layout. Otherwise the watch is executed excellently. The action of all three pushers is very smoothly but well defined. The watch looks smaller on the wrist compared e.g an IWC Portugieser although the diameter is about 2 mm larger.

You can use this info, if you like in your excellent Omega web page; but please do not disclose my name.

With best regards

D

While my thoughts on the Olympic Timer's are posted elsewhere, I have to admit a surge of excitement when I see pictures of one of these.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I CAN NOT wait until 10 February and the opening ceremonies at Torino!
